Brightshelf Search Fixes ("Search Fixes") is a Shopify app operated by Niv Goldner, Shoshana Damari St 2, Kfar Saba 4464701, Israel ("we"). Contact: hello@brightshelfapps.com.
Merchants who install Search Fixes, and shoppers who search on those merchants' online stores. The merchant is responsible for their store's own privacy notice to shoppers; this policy explains what the app itself does.
For shopper search data, the merchant is the controller and we process it on the merchant's behalf to provide Search insights. For merchant data, we process it to provide the app under our agreement with you (the app's terms and Shopify's Partner Program terms).
read_products, write_products: to read product titles, types, vendors and tags, add or remove the synonym tags the app manages (when you save a synonym group, and automatically when a product is added or edited later), save related products, and add the search terms you choose for products you pin to the top of search results.write_pixels, read_customer_events: to run the Search Fixes web pixel, which counts storefront searches for Search insights. The app does not request access to customers, orders, payments or staff accounts.
When a shopper who has allowed analytics submits a search, the web pixel sends the app the shop domain, the search text, and the number of products returned. The app stores only a daily count per search term: the normalised search text, the date, how many times it was searched, and how many of those searches had no or few results.
The app does not store names, email addresses, IP addresses, device IDs, customer IDs or anything else that links a search to a person. The pixel only runs for shoppers who allow analytics (Shopify's customer privacy setting), and it never runs for marketing or sale of data. Search text is whatever the shopper typed. If a shopper types personal information into the search box, it would be counted as a search term like any other. Merchants can see these terms in Search insights.
When the Search Fixes app embed is on, it tells the app that it is active and when a search redirect fires (shop domain and search text only), so redirect hit counts can be shown. Nothing is stored about the shopper.
The app sets no cookies on shoppers' browsers. The app embed keeps one flag (sf-ping) in the browser's session storage so it reports "active" only once per visit; it contains no identifier and is cleared when the tab closes. Our hosting provider may process IP addresses briefly to deliver requests; the app doesn't store them.
The app and its database run on Fly.io servers in the United States (Ashburn, Virginia). Data is sent over HTTPS. Access to the server is limited to the developer.
Our hosting provider, Fly.io, Inc., stores the data in the United States and processes it for us under a data processing agreement. Fly.io is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, the UK Extension to it and the Swiss-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, which we rely on for transfers of personal data from the EU, the UK and Switzerland to the United States.
We don't sell or share data with third parties, and we don't use it for advertising. Data is processed only to provide the app's features to the merchant who installed it, by our hosting provider (Fly.io) and by Shopify.
shop/redact) and the app deletes everything it stored for your shop: settings, synonym groups, redirects, related products, search counts, suggestions, jobs and the tag ledger.customers/data_request, customers/redact) are acknowledged. The app holds no data linked to an individual customer, so there is nothing to return or erase. You can ask us to access, correct, delete or restrict the data we hold about your shop, or object to its processing, by emailing hello@brightshelfapps.com. We reply within 30 days. You can also complain to your local data protection authority. Shoppers should contact the merchant first, because the app holds no data that identifies them.
Merchants can delete synonym groups, redirects and related lists at any time, or uninstall the app. Shoppers can decline analytics in the store's cookie banner, and the pixel then doesn't count their searches. For any privacy question or request, email hello@brightshelfapps.com.
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date above.
